Hangman Page Clarifies Remarks About Not Taking Advice From Veterans

Hangman Page wants to set the record straight about saying he didn’t take advice from veterans in the All Elite Wrestling locker room.

Last year during the All Out media scrum, CM Punk spoke about a previous interview Page had done where he said he didn’t really take advice from people backstage and didn’t mix words on how he felt about the subject.

“Our locker room, for all the wisdom and brilliance it has, isn’t worth sh*t when you have an empty-headed idiot, who has never done anything in the business do public interviews and say, ‘I don’t really take advice.’ Who the f**k do you think you are? That’s stupid,” CM Punk said. “I’m on a team with Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, and I don’t need to work on my swing. I’m not gonna listen to these guys. F**king go f**k yourself. I dare you to f**king say that to Terry Funk’s face. ‘I don’t need to listen to you, Mr. Funk; I know what I’m doing.’ F**king grow up.” [H/T: Fightful]

Eight months later, Hangman Page has taken to his Instagram Stories to respond and explain his side of things.

“The reports that I ‘don’t take advice’ have been greatly exaggerated, perhaps by no one more so than me,” Hangman wrote. “Advice and feedback, particularly from those who have come before, have always been and always will be welcomed and appreciated. My self-deprecating and dry insistence otherwise just comes from a place of being more personally interested in wrestling as an art than a sport.

“It would’ve been hollow for Picasso to try to paint a Mona Lisa. I kinda thought I’d have been asked about it by now and could’ve clarified,” Hangman added. “I just wouldn’t want any of the older generation, especially those whose work with us is vital and unknown to fans, to feel that their wisdom is dismissed.”
