Hiroshi Tanahashi Pulled From NJPW Collision In Philadelphia Due To Injury

Hiroshi Tanahashi is dealing with an injury.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced that Tanahashi sustained an injury at NJPW Capital Collision on April 15, where he teamed up with Kazuchika Okada to face The Motor City Machine Guns and Aussie Open (Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher) in a match for the NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championship.

Due to the injury, Tanahashi will be unable to compete at NJPW Collision in Philadelphia on April 16. Tanahashi’s absence, along with TJP’s inability to make the show due to travel issues, NJPW announced a change to the card; Aussie Open will defend the NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championship against Lio Rush and Tomohiro Ishii.

Tanahashi had been set to team with Rush and Ishii to face Aussie Open and TJP on Sunday.

The full announcement is available here.

Tanahashi subsequently announced that he suffered a broken rib. As of this writing, it’s unclear how long he’ll be sidelined.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
