Renee Paquette Says That Jon Moxley Has Been Handpicking His AEW Opponents

It appears that Jon Moxley has been involved in selecting his AEW opponents.

Jon Moxley has been involved with AEW since their first pay-per-view in 2019. Over the years, he’s been positioned as one of the faces of the company and has enjoyed a few AEW World title reigns as a result.

Because of his positioning at the top of the card, some have wondered if he has any say in who his opponents are. During a recent episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Renee Paquette discussed what her favorite Moxley matches are and how he’s involved in the process.

“If it wasn’t for the lack of pyrotechnics at the end of [Moxley vs. Kenny Omega at Revolution 2021], I really, really did love that match. Jon and Bryan [Danielson] was really great at Arthur Ashe, but obviously that was really great, duh,” Paquette said. “I can’t really think of an opponent that Jon’s not happy with because I also feel like, in the last however many years, he’s kind of been more or less handpicking what his matches were going to be and who his opponents were going to be.”

Paquette shared that she’s more into the moments that Moxley finds to be “special,” whether he’s facing a dream opponent or involved in an exciting angle like when William Regal made his AEW debut at Revolution 2022. She also praised Moxley’s matches with Hangman Page due to their storytelling without a championship involved.
