Sonya Deville Reflects On Her Full Circle Moment At WrestleMania 39

Sonya Deville is still trying to get over the high from competing at SoFi Stadium at WWE WrestleMania 39.

SmackDown Superstar Sonya Deville recently sat down with Mike Jones of DC 101 to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about teaming up with Chelsea Green at WrestleMania 39, Deville admitted it was like a full circle moment for both of them after being part of WWE Tough Enough together eight years ago.

“It’s such a crazy full circle moment for Chelsea and I,” Sonya Deville said. “Because we were at the same original tryout eight years ago for WWE Tough Enough, and I ended up getting on the show, and she ended up being an alternate and getting on the show later on. And then she took a different path, and I got signed. So it was kind of like the weirdest like full circle nostalgia for us to be in the ring as a tag team at WrestleMania eight years later.”

When asked if she had any WrestleMania highlights outside her match that weekend, Deville said the SmackDown Women’s Title match between Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley was her favorite match across both nights.

“I was peeking my head out of the curtain and actually watched Charlotte versus Rhea Ripley from the crowd, but I was hiding in the little alleyway, and that was probably one of my favorite matches across both nights,” Sonya Deville admitted. “Just to see how physical they got and they really both just left every single thing in the ring was pretty impressive.”

When asked what her goals were going forward in 2023, Deville said she believes that it’s time she wins some championship gold.

“I really feel like this is the year, and I haven’t said this every year because I don’t want to say it until it feels right, but I do feel like this is my time to get some gold around my waist,” Sonya Deville said. “I feel like I’ve been here. I’ve put in my work as GM behind the scenes, and now I’m back in the ring full time, and I want my hands on some gold.”
