The Miz On The Importance Of The WWE Draft: They Can Make Or Break You

The rise of The Miz in the world of professional wrestling coincides with what has happened to him over the years in the WWE Draft.

The Miz recently took to his Instagram page to discuss the recently announced WWE Draft that will happen in a few weeks and reflected on how important that yearly event has been in his career.

“It’s been announced that the Draft will be coming very soon,” The Miz began. “Every time that WrestleMania comes, it feels, as a WWE Superstar, that it’s a new season. And with a new season comes a new Draft, and I don’t think anyone realizes how important Drafts are.

“I remember my first Draft. I was on SmackDown for maybe like a year, and then the Draft came, and it was on the show, and then the next day, there was a supplemental Draft on the internet, and I was part of that supplemental draft.

“I got drafted to ECW, and I remember going to ECW and the producers telling me and John Morrison like, ‘This is your chance, this is it if you guys don’t show us something now, then you’ll probably be gone in three months.’ So, John and I formed a tag team, did ‘The Dirt Sheet,’ became champions, did really, really well for like three years, and became a staple in ECW.”

The following WWE Draft, The Miz got moved back to RAW from ECW, which separated his tag team with John Morrison at the time. The former WWE Champion claims he didn’t know about it beforehand.

“Neither John nor I knew what was going to happen, and I ended up being drafted from ECW to RAW,” The Miz revealed. “So our tag team was separated just like that. I remember laying out John, and that kind of started or propelled my singles career and led me all the way to a WWE Championship and main eventing WrestleMania.”

The Miz truly believes that the WWE Draft can make or break your career and thinks when you’re drafted to a new show, it’s your opportunity to start your career over again.

“They can make or break you,” The Miz said. “Drafts are so important for careers; that’s why I always look forward to new Drafts. I was drafted at one point every single year, and every single year, it’s like you’re starting over again.

“Especially when you’re drafted to a new show. There’s just new people, new Superstars, new everything behind the scenes. So, yeah, Drafts are very important to Superstars and fans. It creates new people to go up against each other with.” [H/T: USA Network]
