Ace Austin Says Joining Bullet Club Was A ‘No-Brainer’ Decision

Ace Austin holds high regard for the Bullet Club.

Arguably the most expansive faction in professional wrestling, Bullet Club has extended its reach across several notable promotions, including WWE, AEW, NJPW, and of course, IMPACT Wrestling. Two of the representatives residing in IMPACT are Ace Austin and Chris Bey, who currently reign as the IMPACT Tag Team Champions.

In a recent interview with WrestlingNewsCo‘s Steve Fall, Ace Austin was asked how it felt to be a part of the globally rising and rather popular faction.

“It’s absurd. It’s unprecedented,” Austin said. “It definitely speaks to the test [of time]. We just hit a decade of Bullet Club. Ten years Bullet Club has been around now, and that’s really not that long. I’ve been wrestling for eight years and that’s a relatively short career so far still. So, it’s crazy to think that that that Bullet Club started almost just before I did.”

“Being a part of that, especially because of all those reaches is — when I had the opportunity to go to Japan the first time for Best of the Super Juniors, I wasn’t going to Japan thinking to myself, ‘Oh, I want to get into Bullet Club,’ you know? I just wanted to break in there and make a name for myself in the best way that I could. I wanted to represent IMPACT Wrestling as X-Division Champion in the best way that I could. And when the opportunity for Bullet Club showed itself while I was there in Japan, it was kind of a no-brainer. That’s the top of the industry right there. So, if I want to be on top, of course, that was just a no-brainer decision.”

Joining Bullet Club also gave Austin and opportunity to build a stronger bond with Chris Bey. Now, the two stand in IMPACT with tag team gold around their waits. “I didn’t really know what would be in store for me [in joining Bullet Club], but I’m glad that that me and Bey got to join forces now because we’ve always been such great competitors within IMPACT Wrestling and within the X-Division. So it was just like a mutual respect between the two of us. No hate, but we were competing for a spot. Getting to kind of drop that wall of competition and really come together, I think is why we have gelled so well so quickly.”

This Sunday, Ace Austin and Chris Bey will defend their titles at IMPACT Rebellion in an Ultimate X match against the very men they defeated to win them, the Motor City Machine Guns.

“It took the Motor City Machine Guns three years as a tag team to win the [IMPACT] tag team titles. We have not been teaming for three years, and here we are, tag team champions. And we beat the Motor City machine guns to do it,” Austin said.
