Despite their brooding exterior on-screen, Rhea Ripley says the Judgment Day is having a lot of fun in their performances.
WWE’s Judgment Day faction has undergone several changes over the last year, but through it all, each member has prided themselves on just enjoying the ride. While Dominik Mysterio has blossomed into “Prison Dom,” Rhea Ripley has soared to the mountaintop of the women’s division as she now holds the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Upon the dismissal of Edge, Finn Balor emerged as the group’s new leader, backed up by the reliable powerhouse, Damian Priest.
Though their internal status appears as heels, the Judgment Day has racked up a noticeable number of cheers in recent months. When asked why the WWE Universe has seemingly warmed up to the faction, Rhea Ripley thinks the answer is pretty simple.
“I think WWE Universe can just tell that we’re having fun. We’re going out there and we’re not really following the rules or following anything in general, we’re just having fun,” she told In The Kliq podcast. “We’re reacting to things and just having a blast, you know?”
“It’s really cool to see everyone back us up on that as well. I don’t know how we’ve all clicked. I mean, it’s the most random bunch. We’ve got an Irishman, a Mexican, a Puerto Rican and an Australian. It’s like you just grabbed us, ‘Yep, them people,’ and just threw them and went, ‘Let’s see if it works.’ And it somehow does, but we’re having a blast.”
Ripley asserted that Judgement Day is ready to take over WWE, especially at the company’s biggest show of the year — WrestleMania. Though Damian Priest didn’t have a match on the card, Ripley believes it’ll soon be his time to shine.
“He might not be on WrestleMania this year, but Puerto Rico is coming up and you never know what’s going to happen. He’s going to shine and he’s going to get his moment. I’ve known Damian Priest for a long time. We’ve come up in NXT together and we’ve both made it to Raw at the exact same time and I know what he’s capable of exactly. I feel like if he’s not going to get given his time, he’s going to take his time.”
