Grayson Waller sounds like he’s moving on to new things in NXT.
WrestleZone spoke with Grayson Waller ahead of NXT Stand & Deliver, where he ended up facing off with Johnny Gargano. In the lead-up to the event, Waller had issues with Michaels and ultimately tried to goad the WWE Hall Of Famer into a fight.
Asked if he thought there was a real chance Michaels might actually step into the ring with him, Waller said it’s not for lack of trying on his part.
“I tried my best, and there was a moment where I challenged him to the match and I saw the look in his eye change,” Waller said. “I saw his aura change. Like I saw ‘old Shawn’ and I thought it was going to happen to be honest. He took his jacket off, I could feel the vibe change, and I know Shawn wants to fight me.
“He would love to do it. I just don’t think he’s in his prime anymore,” Waller stated. “That’s just what it is. So, I tried my best. Unfortunately, it just didn’t happen.”
Asked if he would entertain the match or continue to feud with Michaels, Waller said he’s moving on to other things.
“I did everything I could and that’s past now. I’m looking past him. I can’t sit there for the next six months trying to do the same thing. There’s a lot of talented people in NXT, a lot of talented people in WWE that I want to fight,” he explained. “I think my energy and my aura move somewhere else now.”
So what is next for Grayson Waller? He’s not sure, but he’s ready for whatever is waiting.
“That’s not my choice. As I said, there’s a lot of people in NXT that I need to show that I run that place. When I say it, I mean it. When I take it from Johnny Gargano and become what NXT is, I think people are going to have a problem with that. I know a lot of people in the locker room don’t like me, I know they don’t like the way I carry myself,” Waller stated, “so whether I’m down there establishing myself as the best thing in NXT history or I’m somewhere else, I’m ready to go.”
