Lacey Evans Wants To Work For A Title, Doesn’t Want Anything Handed To Her

Lacey Evans wants to earn herself some championship gold, rather than having it handed to her.

After months of inactivity, Lacey Evans made her official return to the ring on the January 27 episode of SmackDown. There, she defeated indie star Jazmin Allure, and unleashed a new, more aggressive character, adding Sgt. Slaughter’s signature Cobra Clutch to her repertoire. Since her resurgence, Evans has gone 2-2 in in-ring competition.

Recently speaking with Denise Salcedo, Evans was asked what she hopes to accomplish in the future. In terms of title aspirations, Evans wants to push herself to truly earn it.

“I want to work, you know?” she said. “I never once in my entire life have I ever been given anything. And I don’t want anything handed to me. I’ve liked how my career has gone. I like that I don’t just come running out and win a title. I want to work for it. So, I think after WrestleMania, every opportunity that I get, that I fight for, that I work for that I bang on doors for, I’m going to take it for what it is, an opportunity to show the world that that I am the prime example of what every woman should be, what every woman can be. And I am and should be a WWE Champion.”

Evans’ most recent outing came on the March 24 edition of SmackDown when she teamed with Xia Li in a Women’s WrestleMania Showcase qualifying match. Unfortunately, her hopes of performing on the grand stage were cut a bit short this year, as their opponents — Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez — prevailed in the match.
