Powerhouse Hobbs opens up about his relationship with QT Marshall.
Hobbs and Marshall joined forces on-screen on the March 8 episode of AEW Dynamite, where QT helped “The Monstar” defeat Wardlow to win the TNT Championship. They have been paired up ever since, as QT has accompanied Hobbs to the ring for his matches.
In an interview with Denise Salcedo, Hobbs discussed his on-screen pairing with Marshall and noted that they have plenty of history, as QT was the one who helped bring him into AEW in the first place. He emphasized that Marshall has always given him guidance on every match he’s had with the company.
“As far as this new alignment everybody’s talking about with QT, QT and I have always been tight,” Hobbs said. “Everybody loves when pro wrestlers shoot, so we’re gonna shoot for a minute. QT was the one that texted me in the summer of 2020 to see if I was a local talent and I could come out to Jacksonville, and I’m all the way in California. I had just got laid off, my daughter was a few months from being born, and so I just rolled the dice, threw it out all on the line.
“QT has been there every step of the way. He has had some type of guidance and input on every single match that I’ve had. I’m 100% sure he doesn’t need me to tell all of our business, but I’m gonna put some of it out there. He’s been helping me since day one. That’s not a gimmick or a joke. QT does so much behind the scenes. There’s so many people that come up to him every single week. He’s told me from day one, his word is his bond, and unfortunately, Wardlow was the casualty, and he had to find out.”
Hobbs continued by highlighting Marshall’s knowledge and noting that he follows his advice. He pointed to his recent wins over Rey Fenix and Christopher Daniels as examples of their success together.
“QT’s my advisor. He has so much knowledge in professional wrestling,” Hobbs said. “Like I said, I go to him for advice and he’s my advisor when he’s at ringside with me. If he tells me I need to pick it up, I need to pick it up. You saw what I did to Rey Fenix and [I did] the same thing to Christopher Daniels at our first show. He helps out ‘The Monstar’ a lot.”
Hobbs successfully defended the TNT Championship against Penta El Zero Miedo on the March 25 episode of AEW Rampage.
