Paul Wight: For Me, It’s All About Rehab And Getting Stronger So I Can Get Back In The Ring

Paul Wight would like the opportunity to wrestle Kenny Omega on a big show.

Paul Wight joined AEW in 2021, and since then, he has only competed in a handful of matches. Now that he has undergone surgery to take care of some nagging physical injuries, Wight hopes to get back into the ring and wrestle some of today’s stars in AEW.

Specifically, Wight tells Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated that he is hoping to have the opportunity to wrestle Kenny Omega.

“I want to get in the ring with Kenny Omega. I want that real bad. Kenny is an incredible talent to watch compete. He has a way of enhancing talent, and he pushes talent to another extreme. I’m always looking for someone to tell a believable story with, whether I am a babyface or a heel. The way he sells, the way he puts his heart and soul into every match, so a match between us could be very believable. As much as I like his wrestling, the guy in the back is even more impressive. He’s humble, hard-working, and works hurt. Looking at his aggressiveness and his heart, I think we could have one hell of a match,” Wight said. “For me, it’s all about rehab and getting stronger, and then I can get back in the ring and play with these AEW kids. There are a couple that has caught my eye.”

In the past, Paul Wight has wrestled some of the top names in the industry, such as Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Hulk Hogan, Sting, Ric Flair, Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Randy Savage, and Kurt Angle. Adding Kenny Omega to the list is another opportunity for Paul to increase his resume of competing in the industry over four decades.
