Jinny Reflects On Her Career: I’m Very Grateful, I Had A Lot Of Fun

Jinny reflects on her career following her retirement from the ring.

The former NXT UK star announced her retirement in January due to a concussion and explained her decision in a subsequent interview. In addition to her work with WWE, she wrestled for EVE and PROGRESS, among other promotions.

Speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Jinny opened up about her decision to retire. She made it clear that she had to do what was best for her long-term health, and while it wasn’t easy, she was still pleased what she accomplished during her days an an active competitor.

“I had to be smart, I had to think about [the] long term,” Jinny said. “Unfortunately, in the last match I took several big blows to the head. It was by far the worst concussion I had every been through.

“I was like, having to think about the long term – healing, looking after your health. I was like, ‘I’ve got to make the right decision.’ It wasn’t easy. I loved wrestling so much, I’d watched it for years and I always wanted to be part of WWE. Although I wasn’t able to make it to my final destination , I still got to achieve a lot.”

Jinny went on to express her gratitude for the career that she had. She then made it clear that the end of her in-ring career was bittersweet, as she wasn’t wrestling for a long time, but she had fun.

“As hard as it is to say goodbye to a dream that you love, I look back and I’m very, very grateful and very, very happy with everything that I achieved,” Jinny said. “It has sunk in a bit more since leaving. It’s still bittersweet because I wasn’t actually wrestling for that long.

“From that time to now, I had one whole year out due to the injury. But I had a lot of fun. I love wrestling, I always will love wrestling… I had a great time.”
