Chris Bey Names FTR As His Dream Opponents

Chris Bey wants to face FTR.

Bey and Ace Austin added to their name to the list of illustrious stars who have held the IMPACT World Tag Team Championship on the March 2 episode of IMPACT Wrestling when they defeated the Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin). Moving forward, Bey, who often competes for both IMPACT and NJPW, has his sights set on a Forbidden Door-like dream match.

Speaking with Lee Tarrier of PWMania Bey was asked to name his dream opponents, and he pointed to FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler), who recently returned to AEW after they were given a number of weeks off. Bey also pointed out that the duo had previously posted about potentially challenging for the IMPACT World Tag Team Championships.

“There’s a there’s a team that comes into mind, a three letter team,” said Bey. “Their initials are FTR. I believe that they even posted something about the Impact World Tag Team Championships not long ago. Well, we are here. They are a great team and what better way to test you against a great team. So, if we could get a inter promotional, unification thing going, the fans will get something they maybe never even knew they wanted, but when they get it, they will love and appreciate the magic we can create against those guys.”

Speaking of the IMPACT World Tag Team Championship, Bey also shared his thoughts on what it felt like winning the belts alongside Ace Austin. For Bey, the win was “incredible,” and he stated that it was particularly special because they dethroned the Motor City Machine Guns.

“It’s incredible,” Bey said. “Some people won’t understand when I say this, but this doesn’t mean as much to me if we didn’t beat who we beat. We’re the world tag team champions because we beat one of the best tag teams in wrestling history. Those guys made a living by creating a whole genre style of tag team wrestling, so, to get in the ring and mix it up with those guys and capture championships from them made those titles mean more to me than they could ever met in any other scenario, and for that I take more pride in winning than I think I ever could have if we would have won them from anybody else.”

At IMPACT Sacrifice, Bad Dude Tito and Shane Haste will challenge Bey and Austin for the IMPACT World Tag Team Championship. More information is available here.
