Great Muta is getting inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Marc Raimondi of ESPN reports that Muta will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2023. PWInsider first broke the news, and the official announcement is expected to be made by Ric Flair during the March 15 episode of WWE’s The Bump. The Hall of Fame Ceremony will be on March 31 ahead of WrestleMania 39 on April 1-2.
Great Muta is the alter ego of Keiji Muto, a legendary wrestler who recently had his retirement match. Muto wrestled his last bout as Great Muta at the fittingly named “The Great Muta Final ‘Bye-Bye'” event on January 22.
Muta has won a number of titles, including the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and the GHC Heavyweight Championship. He is also a former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.
Throughout his legendary career, he wrestled top stars like Sting and Ric Flair. He also had a few runs in WCW. Muta made his AEW debut on AEW Rampage: Grand Slam 2022, where he saved Sting from the House of Black.
During his retirement tour, Muta/Muto faced several noteworthy names, including WWE star Shinsuke Nakamura.
