Kurt Angle names who he would like to be in the ring with if he was ever to be in a hypothetical tag match across the ring from Steve Austin.
Kurt Angle and Steve Austin were tied together for the majority of 2001, trading the WWE Championship back and forth in the latter half of the year.
While both men are retired today, Kurt was asked about a hypothetical tag match where he and Austin would be on separate sides of the ring today and who he would like to see himself and Austin be paired with.
“Well, for many reasons, and this has to do with Austin and I being way up there in age, we’re going to have to have some guys that can work, that can go, guys like Seth Rollins or AJ Styles,” said Kurt on the latest Kurt Angle Show podcast. “Guys that are going to make us look good even when we can’t make ourselves look good. I mean, we’re gonna try to make ourselves look as good as we possibly can, but you’re gonna need wrestlers like that. Guys that can make other wrestlers, whether they’re inexperienced or older. I’ll give you an example. Jay Lethal, when he wrestled Ric Flair in that tag match, you got to have somebody like that. I think that AJ Styles and Seth Rollins on each of our teams would have been great.”
Stone Cold Steve Austin wrestled Kevin Owens, after nearly 20 years away from the ring, at WrestleMania 38 in 2022, and Kurt hasn’t wrestled since losing to Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.
