Madusa: I Would Love To Have A Retirement Match

Madusa expresses her interest in a potential retirement match and named Charlotte Flair as one of her dream opponents.

Madusa, formerly known as Alundra Blayze, had a legendary career with WWE; she won the WWF Women’s Championship three times. She then jumped ship to WCW and memorably threw the WWF Women’s Championship in the trash. WWE later inducted Madusa into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015, and she has made a few appearances on WWE TV in recent years,

Speaking with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Madusa was asked about having one last run or match. She stated that she would love to have a retirement match, and she noted that legends like Lita and Trish Stratus come back all the time, but few other women’s wrestling legends from WWE’s past get those opportunities.

“I would love to have a retirement match,” Madusa said. “I’m not dissing any era, but there are other eras before the ”Attitude Era.’ There is still a woman under WWE legend’s contract that they can do something with. But they chose not to. A retirement match would be wonderful. We see Trish Stratus and Lita all the time. I think those girls are great. But that’s all we see. I’m not sick of them. I’m just sick of seeing just them. I have high respect for those two women. But damn it, if it was them at 60, they would be pounding the pavement just as hard as I am.”

When asked to name her dream opponent, Madusa made it clear that she’d want to work with someone she could have a great match with. She stated that everybody wants to see her and Charlotte Flair face off.

“It would have to be somebody I can have a great match with,” said Madusa. “That if I bump my head and forgot something they can carry the match. Anything can happen. It could be a Nattie, Beth Phoenix, a Rhea Ripley. Everyone wants to see Charlotte Flair and Madusa. I still think that would be phenomenal.

Madusa’s new book, ‘The Woman Who Would Be King: The MADUSA Story’, written with Greg Oliver and published by ECW Press, is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
