MLW Underground Results – March 7, 2023

MLW Underground kicked off with MLW World Heavyweight Champion Alex Hammerstone coming to ringside in street clothes to join the commentary team for the opening contest. It’s announced that Hammerstone will defend his title later in the evening against Lance Anoa’i of the Samoan SWAT Team.

Jacob Fatu defeated Lio Rush

  • Jacob Fatu hits a double spring moonsault on Lio Rush to secure the pinfall victory.

Fatu gets on the microphone following the match and tells Hammerstone that the MLW World Heavyweight Championship is coming home with him. This leads to Hammerstone getting in the ring as the two men go face to face.

They shove each other before getting into a brawl that lasts throughout an entire commercial break. Hammerstone and Fatu are eventually broken up by referees and security.

Highlights from last week’s main event air showcasing John Hennigan defeating Davey Richards for the MLW National Openweight Championship. They head backstage to Sam Adonis, who introduces Cesar Duran. Duran says his faction is already dripping in gold and brings in Taya Valkyrie and John Hennigan. Valkyrie talks about bringing her husband to Major League Wrestling.

The Billington Bulldogs defeated The Bomaye Fight Club

  • Mark and Thomas Billington execute a top rope double team maneuver on Mr. Thomas to score the pinfall victory.

Thanks to the Bulldogs winning this tag match, Alex Kane is forced to step into the ring with Davey Boy Smith Jr. on a future episode of MLW Underground.

Highlights are shown showcasing the rivalry between Real1 and Mance Warner. That leads to a backstage promo from Real1, who is confined to a wheelchair due to Warner running him over with a car. Real1 said he’s taking Warner to court, and he’s going to take him for everything.

It’s announced that Hustle & Power will defend the MLW World Tag Team Titles next week against the Samoan SWAT Team. We then hear from the champions, EJ Nduka and Calvin Tankman. Nduka says he attacked Lance Anoa’i with a brick last week to send a message to Jacob Fatu.

Tankman interrupts and questions why it seems Nduka is more worried about the MLW World Heavyweight Title instead of their MLW Tag Team Titles. It appears that Tankman gets Nduka back on the same page ahead of their big title defense next week.

There is a video package highlighting Alex Hammerstone that continued to build the hype toward his title defense against Jacob Fatu on MLW Underground in two weeks’ time.

We hear from Mance Warner, who is sitting in a stairwell with Microman and he makes his intentions clear that he’s coming after the mysterious faction who attacked his friend Microman last week. Warner challenges them to a match on MLW Underground next week.

A vignette airs, finally revealing who’s behind the mysterious gas mask faction in Major League Wrestling. It’s revealed to be Raven, Rickey Shane Page, and AKIRA. It’s unknown which of the three will accept Warner’s challenge on next week’s show.

Much like at the beginning of the show, Jacob Fatu joins the commentary team before the main event of the evening.

MLW World Heavyweight Champion Alex Hammerstone and Lance Anoa’i ends in a no contest

  • Alex Hammerstone and Jacob Fatu begin brawling at ringside a minute into the match, and the main event gets thrown out.

While security and referees separate Hammerstone and Fatu, EJ Nduka and Calvin Tankman hop the rails to attack the Samoan SWAT Team which brings out more security and referees to separate that brawl.

Alex Hammerstone gets in the ring and surveys the chaos around him at ringside as MLW Underground goes off the air.
