FTR Returns At AEW Revolution, The Gunns Retain Titles

FTR is back in All Elite Wrestling and they have their eyes on The Gunns’ titles.

The Gunns retained their AEW Tag Team Championship at AEW Revolution, picking up the win with a revamped version of their 3:10 To Yuma finisher. The action continued after the bell, however, as FTR interrupted The Gunns’ post-match interview and brawled with them in the ring.

This marks FTR’s first appearance in AEW since they lost to The Gunns at Holiday Bash in December 2022.

Check out a recap of the match courtesy of our live coverage page below:

AEW World Tag Team Championship: The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn) (c) vs. Orange Cassidy & Danhausen vs. The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) vs. Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal (with Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh)

Cassidy gains an early advantage. Jarrett takes control and struts. Danhausen takes Lethal down with a hurricanrana. The Gunns gain the upper hand. Cassidy drops Austin with a DDT and dives onto Colten on the outside. Austin tags Lethal, who trades punches with Cassidy. The Acclaimed enter the action, but Dutt gets involved. The former champions hit Dutt with Scissor Me Timbers. Bowens and Caster scissor. Lethal takes control, with some help from The Gunns. Jarrett chokes Bowens in the corner. The Gunns and Lethal & Jarrett continue to work together. They isolate Bowens, but Caster tags in and clears house. Lethal superkicks Caster and dumps him to the outside. The Gunns turn on Lethal and Jarrett. Singh grabs the Gunns by the throat and drives them out of the ring.

Dutt faces off with Danhausen, who breaks Sonjay’s pencil. Cassidy drills Singh with an Orange Punch. Danhausen hits Singh below the belt. Billy Gunn drops Singh with a Fameasser and does a few Crotch Chops. The Gunns attack their dad. The Acclaimed take control, and Caster hits the Mic Drop, but the pin is broken up. Colten sends Bowens over the barricade. Jarrett gets his guitar, but Caster ducks it. Caster tries to use the guitar, but the referee stops him. Jarrett hits the Stroke on Caster after Lethal hits him with the Golden Globe Award, but Max kicks out. Aubrey Edwards gets in Jarrett’s face, and he pushes her. Aubrey shoves back, and The Gunns send Jarrett to the outside. The Gunns hit the 3:10 to Yuma on Danhausen for the win.

Winner and still AEW World Tag Team Champions: The Gunns

The Gunns recently spoke with WrestleZone about their issues with FTR, noting how they had some friction backstage.

Colten: “The fourth time when it was just us and FTR, that’s it. Our dad wasn’t there. They didn’t have anybody. We beat them. And then we went out and held a funeral for them. We ended their legacy. That chapter’s done just like The Acclaimed chapter’s done. They are in our rearview. I do not like them. I do not want to see them come back. They can go to whatever promotion they want to go to, but we’re done with them. We ended that legacy. There’s no more 7-star FTR. Just The Gunns.”

Austin then brought up recent comments by Dax on his FTR with Dax Harwood podcast where he discussed The Gunns’ tag title win.

Austin: “I got sent a few things on Twitter that Dax was talking about us on his podcast and it just put all of that into perspective like — shoot — me and Colten don’t get along with FTR anymore backstage. So like he said, we don’t care where they go, we don’t care about their contracts, we don’t care about them coming back. But that’s a shoot, yeah, we don’t get along.

“We hate to see it come to that, and I never want to bash any other wrestlers, but I think they wanted to be these guys backstage where everyone came and asked them questions. They wanted to be the veterans backstage, and when me and Colten no longer asked them for advice, I think they took that personally, and now you feel it backstage. We don’t talk to them, they don’t talk to us. Head down in the hallway, or at least that’s how it was. I don’t care.”
