Britt Baker comments on Mercedes Moné potentially coming to All Elite Wrestling.
The former Sasha Banks left WWE at the end of 2022 and kicked off a new chapter of her career at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17, where she laid out IWGP Women’s Champion KAIRI. At the time, AEW was hyping up a tag team bout for the January 11 episode of AEW Dynamite, where Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter would face Saraya and a partner of her choosing. Given Monè’s history with Saraya, many fans assumed she would be the choice. Instead, the partner turned out to be Toni Storm, and Moné has yet to appear on AEW TV.
Baker expressed her excitement about the idea of a match with Moné during an interview with Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post. Baker made it clear that Mercedes is a dream match for her. Baker went on to note that, in the past, she used some of Moné’s moves in training. She stated that potential matchups between Moné and other stars are realistic. Baker also shared her hope that Moné will work with AEW in some capacity, and she’d like to work with her.
“It’s weird to see now that she’s out in the wild,” Baker said. “She’s not completely inaccessible in a way. These are very realistic matchups that could happen and I think the world is ready to see Mercedes Moné let out of the cage. What is she gonna do now? I hope and pray that someday we see her in some capacity in AEW. And if by chance I could be in the connection too I would be very, very for that.”
Moné won the IWGP Women’s Championship at NJPW Battle in the Valley, and she is reportedly only committed to two more dates with NJPW/STARDOM. More information is available here.
