A major title change took place on MLW Underground.
During the February 28 episode of MLW Underground, John Hennigan challenged Davey Richards for the MLW National Openweight Championship. In the end, Taya Valkyrie provided the assist for Hennigan to win the title for the first time. She hit Richards in the back with her MLW World Women’s Featherweight Championship, and Hennigan pinned the champion to win the bout.
Richard’s first title reign comes to an end at 198 days after he won the title by beating Alex Kane at Battle Riot IV in June. The match aired on delay on the November 17 episode of MLW Fusion.
