Kenny Omega Teases Mixed Tag Match With Mercedes Moné

“The Cleaner” would like another meeting with “The CEO.”

Amidst her ventures into the free agency market, Mercedes Moné has attracted the eyes of many promotions, and fellow wrestling talent. Right now, Moné has seized the opportunity to take over New Japan Pro-Wrestling, most recently capturing the IWGP Women’s Championship. As Moné’s world tour heats up, so has the likelihood for some dream matches to become a reality.

Prior to her official NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17, Moné came face-to-face with another global superstar, Kenny Omega. As seen in a clip posted to her YouTube channel, Moné met the All Elite Wrestling star for the very first time, proclaiming herself as a “big fan” of his. After their encounter, Moné shared the video to Twitter, saying it was “nice to meet” Kenny Omega.

Soon after, Omega responded, indicating his interest in gathering with the new champion again soon. Alluding to NJPW’s trio of mixed tag team matches at the Historic X-Over event, Omega appears to want a tag match with Moné. “Our work with NJPW isn’t quite done yet, so I’m sure they will! I hear they sometimes do mix matches now too…” he tweeted.

In November, NJPW linked up with their sister company, STARDOM, to co-produce Historic X-Over. Amidst a rare occasion, three mixed tag team matches featured a mix of talent from both promotions. Giulia & Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Syuri & Tom Lawlor, while Hiroshi Tanahashi & Utami Hayashishita beat Hirooki Goto & Maika. Elsewhere, an eight-person tag bout ensured as Natsupoi & Tam Nakano teamed with Taichi & Yoshinobu Kanemaru to defeat Momo Watanabe, Starlight Kid, DOUKI, and El Desperado.

Currently, Monè stands as the IWGP Women’s Champion, while Omega dethroned Will Ospreay to claim the IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion at Wrestle Kingdom 17.
