Frankie Kazarian‘s return to IMPACT Wrestling was a surprise to almost everyone — including Gail Kim.
During a recent interview with Steve Fall for WrestlingNews.co, Gail Kim spoke about Frankie Kazarian’s surprise return at IMPACT’s Hard To Kill pay-per-view. Gail said she knew Frankie Kazarian was coming back to IMPACT, but his return was a secret to most.
“I think I can tell the story now that it’s happened. So, it was kept pretty tightly under wraps. Not many people knew, and when I mean not many people knew, I mean even in management didn’t know,” Gail said. “Yes, he was very hidden.”
Gail said that Kaz’s wife, former TNA Knockout Tracy Brooks, even tricked her by making her think he wasn’t there. Gail said she didn’t know Kaz was actually back until she saw him cutting his promo in the ring.
“I have a very close relationship with Frankie and Tracy [Brooks, his wife and former TNA Knockout] because I used to be roommates with them back in the day. We’re like a big, happy family so I did know Frankie was coming, but even Tracy tried to throw me off the day of,” Gail explained. “I texted her the day of and said, ‘When is Frankie getting here?’ and she’s like, ‘What do you mean?’ She totally threw me off and I totally believed he wasn’t coming to Hard To Kill, then I saw him doing his promo and that’s when I discovered that he was there. And that was me being in the office! I was like, ‘Oh, I’m so mad right now. I’m so mad that they hid it from me!’”
Gail said she is very happy to see Frankie Kazarian back, noting that she could see him wrestling another ten years if he wanted to.
“He showed that he’s still got it in the ring. He had incredible matches with Josh Alexander and Mike Bailey, all these guys previously that you just saw he just signed this long-term deal with us. And so, I’m excited. I’m excited to see him come back home, I’m excited to see the matches that he’s going to put out there because that short, little run he did with us last year was incredible. The match with Chris Sabin was incredible. I’m all about my generation of wrestling, especially people that are in incredible shape like Mickie and Frankie and people that can still go. To kind of guide the next generation while they’re still there to show them how to do this wrestling thing at the top of their game.”
