Bronson Reed is ready to compete in the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE United States Championship this Saturday night.
The recently returning RAW Superstar was a guest on WWE After The Bell with Corey Graves to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked what his reaction was when he found out that he’d be competing in his first Elimination Chamber match, Reed said it was surreal to him because competing inside the Elimination Chamber has been on his bucket list.
“Almost a little bit surreal. The Elimination Chamber is something that I had on my bucket list that I’ve always wanted to compete in,” Bronson Reed said. “I actually remember being 14 years old, and at the time, we still had the VCR/DVD combo. Good combo. So at the time, VHS tapes were a little bit cheaper than DVDs, so I was able to get my hands on the Survivor Series 2002 VHS. I remember watching that first Chamber very fondly, so ever since then, it’s something that I wanted to do.”
Reed will be in the ring with some of the biggest names on the RAW roster, including former WWE Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins. Reed admitted he’s excited to get into the ring and test himself against the former WWE Champion.
“I love testing myself against the biggest names in the business. I’m 340 pounds. I’m a big dude. I’m someone that gets in there and destroys people,” Bronson Reed said. “But somehow, I feel like sometimes I’m still the underdog in people’s eyes. I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t done certain things or I do come from Australia. Sometimes that gets a little bit of a bad rep, but I’m no underdog. I definitely want to test myself against Seth Rollins because whenever I’m in there with someone of his caliber, it just brings out the best in me, and it proves to all those people that I’m there for a reason.”
The former NXT North American Champion was shockingly released from the company back in August 2021; he made a bigger name for himself outside of WWE as JONAH, where he worked for both IMPACT and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Reed scored a pinfall victory over current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada. Reed believes the time away put a big chip on his shoulder and hardened him as a competitor.
“I think now, more than ever, I have a big chip on my shoulder. I did spend that little time away, and if anything, it just hardened me as a competitor more than ever,” Bronson Reed said. “I got to spend a lot of time in Japan and really test not only the wrestling skills but my will and how much I want to still pursue and chase this. It kept me grounded in that I love professional wrestling, and I always want to be that, and I wound up back here with the WWE. So I’m not gonna let any opportunity pass me by.”
