Tyrus: The Suck Club Is Big And Successful, I’m In Good Company

Tyrus is happy to carry the National Wrestling Alliance on his back and if you think he sucks, he doesn’t really care.

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Tyrus was a recent guest on The Ten Count with Steve Fall to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked if he feels the pressure of being the face of the National Wrestling Alliance, Tyrus admits that he does, but it’s a good pressure in his mind.

“It’s a good pressure. You either put up or shut up,” Tyrus said. “When the opportunity came to me, two things were gonna happen, and one, we’re going to grow, and that’s what you want when you have a champion. You want the brand to grow. You want the guys to grow; you want people to see stuff. You want people to hate you. You want people to love you, boo me hate me; as long as you’re watching, I don’t care. I have zero F’s given as long as you’re in attendance. I relish the challenge, and so far, things are going well, and you have to maintain a high level of excellence, and if I’m not, it should be next man up.”

When asked about his haters and if it bothers him, Tyrus said it doesn’t because he’s inspired by people that are negative, and their hate fuels him.

“No, because well, for one, I don’t care. That’s the biggest thing,” Tyrus said. “I’m always inspired by people that are negative. That’s something I’ve always — it’s fine. It fuels me. I know what they cheer for. So their boos are my self-esteem. So I don’t worry about those things. I was shocked Eric Bishoff and Conrad [Thompson] had a conversation on his podcast where he talked about hating someone for being successful. It’s not my issue.

“If you don’t like me because I’m on the number one late-night comedy show on Fox News, if you don’t like me because I have a New York Times bestseller, you don’t like me because I put food on the table for my family at a high level and I have been able to succeed outside the WWE, keep on hating because it’s fuel to the fire. But again, 2000 people or 1500 people that probably aren’t going to buy a damn ticket anyways. Why do I give a damn what they have to say?”

In regards to people telling him that he sucks in the ring, Tyrus pointed to some of the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling, like John Cena and Kurt Angle, to explain why he believes he’s in good company with that assessment.

“You know what’s funny is didn’t John Cena suck supposedly, and is probably going down as one of the greatest of all time,” Tyrus said. “I think The Rock sucked, Kurt Angle sucked. Well, he literally made a song about it. You know what I’m saying? CM Punk sucks, Seth Rollins sucks, Roman Reigns, he’s holding both titles in the WWE, he sucked.

“He couldn’t talk. He can’t work. I think he’s doing just fine. I mean, when he’s not winning in the ring, he’s getting awards, accolades as father of the year. So I’m in good company. The suck club is deep and successful. Kevin Nash always gave great advice, man. He’s one of the people I lean on. And he’s like, ‘Is the check clearing? You’re welcome.'”
