Former NJPW star Kota Ibushi is launching his own wrestling school.
Ibushi shared the news in an interview with BBM Japan and offered some information. Tuition for the school will cost 800,000 yen, which is equivalent to approximately $6,072.80. Students will have rooms and meals at the school for a six-month period. As of this writing, it’s unclear when the school will open or officially begin accepting students.
In the interview, Ibushi also commented on his return from a shoulder injury that has kept him sidelined since the finals of the G1 Climax 2021, where he lost to Kazuchika Okada.
“I have no problem moving normally, I am passive in training, and there is absolutely no problem in rope work. I think I have recovered about 90%. I have no problem competing.”
Additionally, Ibushi noted that he plans to stay based in Japan. He has been announced for The Collective 2023 in Los Angeles; he will face Mike Bailey at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 9.
Ibushi left NJPW after his contract expired on January 31.
