Kurt Angle says he wanted main event spots on WWE’s Saudi Arabia supershows. However, he was still very happy with his main-event level payday for participating in the shows.

Kurt Angle was towards the back end of his career when WWE began going over to Saudi Arabia for special shows. However, Angle was fortunate enough to participate in several of the events, noting on the most recent episode of his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show, that he still got paid like a main eventer for his Saudi Arabia appearances.

“I will say this. They didn’t put me in great spots. I think I did a Royal Rumble. I was an entrant of a Battle Royal. I also did a seven-minute match with Dolph Ziggler. The match wasn’t — Dolph was great, don’t get me wrong, but at this point in time, I wasn’t so great because I kind of lost the step at this particular time in my career. It wasn’t where I wanted to be. I was hoping to be more main event status. Still, the money was really good. It was like I main-evented a pay-per-view,” said Angle.

Speaking more specifically of his match with Dolph Ziggler, which took place during the tournament to crown the “Best in the World” at WWE Crown Jewel 2018, Angle compared Dolph Ziggler to AJ Styles, saying that “The Show Off” makes it very easy for his opponents.

“I’m glad it was with Dolph,” said Kurt. “Dolph is easy to work with. He reminds me a lot of AJ Styles. He’s one of those guys that does all the work for you. You really don’t have to do anything. All you have to do is catch him, and you know he’ll bump and feed for you. It’s a really easy match, just like AJ, and I enjoyed working with him.”

Elsewhere on this podcast, Angle admitted that if he were to be offered a payday of $3 million, he would not hesitate to wrestle in Saudi Arabia one more time.
