Tony Schiavone speaks highly of Excalibur and Paul Wight.
Schiavone and Excalibur have been working together since AEW‘s inaugural year, 2019. Both men are members of the broadcast team for AEW Dynamite every Wednesday.
Speaking on his What Happened When podcast, Schiavone praised Excalibur by calling him an amazing announcer and saying there’s nobody like him. Schiavone made it clear that he has learned a lot from his broadcast colleague.
“He’s a f—ing amazing announcer. There’s nobody like him,” Schiavone. “I’m telling you, he is an amazing f—ing announcer. As an old f—er here, I’m learned so much from him. He’s taught me a lot about how things should be done. We do have a lot of fun during the commercial breaks…especially when Taz is out there.”
Schiavone also spoke highly of Wight, formerly known as The Big Show, who joined AEW in February 202, and he has been a member of the broadcast team for AEW Dark: Elevation. The veteran commentator shared his belief that Wight will be “very, very good”. Schiavone also stated that he encouraged Wight to listen to Gorilla Monsoon’s commentary to see what he did.
“Paul Wight’s starting to do play-by-play for us on Elevation. I think he’s gonna be very, very good. I told him, I said, ‘Go back and listen to Gorilla Monsoon and listen to all what he did.’ Paul is so willing to learn, he really is, and work hard at being an announcer.”
Fans can see Excalibur and Schiavone on the January 11 episode of AEW Dynamite. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
