AEW Battle Of The Belts V Results (1/6/23): No Holds Barred Tag Match, Jade Cargill Defends

AEW Battle Of The Belts V Results – January 6, 2023

Welcome to WrestleZone’s live coverage of AEW Battle Of The Belts V! Chris Jericho, Jim Ross, Excalibur, and Tony Schiavone are calling the action as we get a run down of the three title matches that will be featured tonight.

AEW World Tag Team Championship – No Holds Barred Match: The Acclaimed (c) vs. Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal

Before the bell can ring, Jarrett and Lethal attack. Lethal takes Bowens up the ramp to apply a Figure Four and they end up rolling down to the ring with the hold in tact. Jarrett throws Bowens back in the ring, but Bowens counters with chops and a flipping neckbreaker. Caster comes in to help suplex Lethal and cover him for a two. Acclaimed double team Lethal until JJ pushes Bowens off the top rope. Lethal dives out onto Bowens before JJ clobbers Caster.

After the break, Bowens wipes Lethal out with a lariat. Caster comes in with clotheslines to both Lethal and Jarrett. Angle Slam connects, Caster applies the ankle lock. Lethal hits a Macho Man elbow drop on the ref due to their being no rules. Things break down with Billy and Satnam getting involved. Bowens hits JJ with Famouser, but there’s no ref until Posey runs in and counts two. Billy takes Lethal down from the apron. JJ grabs a guitar and low blows Billy. Bowens grabs his boom box, but Sonjay trips him. Billy steals the guitar and hits Satnam. JJ plants Billy but turns around into a super kick from Bowens.

Satnam double chokeslams The Acclaimed and then ref Posey. Sonjay puts on the ref shirt as Lethal Injection hits on Bowens. Sonjay is pulled out by Aubrey during the count. Aubrey breaks Sonjay’s pencil and shoves him out. Caster hits Mic Drop on Lethal, Bowens covers for the win.

Winners: The Acclaimed (c)

Backstage, Powerhouse Hobbs talks about how his life is in the Book of Hobbs. “Everything that has happened to me is gonna happen to you.”

Ortiz and Eddie Kingston talk backstage about House of Black’s promo on Rampage. It’s later announced that Kingston & Ortiz will face Malakai Black and Brody King on next week’s Rampage.

TBS Championship: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Skye Blue

Cargill holds up the title in Blue’s face, which leads to Blue throwing a punch to kick things off. Cargill drops Blue into a slam, but Blue manages a couple pinfall attempts. Cargill rolls out and back in to break it up. Jade backs Skye up into the corner but Blue evades. Blue is sent out of the ring where Jade hits a chokeslam on the ramp. Aubrey checks on Skye then starts counting. Red Velvet appears on the stage to watch. Skye gets back in at 9. Skye is thrown face-first into the turnbuckles.

After the break, Blue hits a tilt a whirl head scissors takedown. Blue delivers a couple kicks, but Jade comes back with a pump kick of her own. Velvet walks down the ramp and slaps Leila. Blue rolls through Jaded with a nearfall. Blue hits Code Blue for another two count. Blue kicks Leila from the apron and hops over the ropes only to get caught. Jade tosses her up and catches her with Jaded for the win.

Winner: Jade Cargill (c)

Cargill flips off Velvet as the 48-0 graphic is shown on the tron.

Stokely Hathaway is interviewed by Lexy Nair. He cuts a promo on HOOK and Jungle Boy ahead of The Firm’s tag match on Dynamite.

Anna Jay & Tay Melo will face Ruby Soho & Willow Nightingale in a street fight on next week’s Rampage.

AEW All-Atlantic Championship: Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Kip Sabian

Kip dodges Orange Punch right out the gate. Shoulder tackles are traded before they run around each other. Cassidy cuts him off with a number of punches on the mat. Sabian takes a seat at ringside for a breather. The Bunny skips down the ramp and stands next to Ford as a united front. Kip gets in a cheap shot before sending OC back inside. Kip flips off the ropes to wipe Orange out on the outside. Kip bites Danhausen’s finger until Orange dives to break it up. OC hits a diving crossbody and then stundog millionaire. Kip catches another dive and plants OC with a suplex on the floor.

After the break, Orange is down but dodges the cannonball in the corner. Up top, Kip struggles to get OC where he wants him. Orange tried Beach Break but managed to land a suplex. Bunny grabs OC’s foot but Paul Turner catches it and ejects her. Kip and OC clash heads before dropping. Butcher and Blade confront Danhausen on the stage. They all brawl, leaving Danhausen down. They put out chairs to sit and watch. In the ring, they trade punches until Kip mocks OC’s kicks. Cassidy unloads with punches but Kip mocks him again to hit a headbutt. Kip lands a couple knees and a headbutt, but OC kicks out. Kip plants him again, nearfall.

Butcher and Blade go to slam Cassidy, but Best Friends make the save. Orange gets caught with a neckbreaker off the ropes, two count. Kip puts on OC’s elbow pad and hits Orange Punch but OC didn’t go down. OC hits the tornado DDT followed by PK and the back drop, but another kickout. Cassidy stomps away on Kip and then shoves Paul Turner down out of blind rage. Kip rolls up, but kickout. OC hits Orange Punch for the win.

Winner: Orange Cassidy (c)
