Shinsuke Nakamura discusses his match against Great Muta.
Nakamura, who is currently signed to WWE, returned to Pro Wrestling NOAH for a high-profile match against Great Muta (also known as Keiji Muto) at the New Year 2023 event. The bout was part of Muta’s retirement tour, and Nakamura defeated the legend in a remarkable match.
Speaking with Tokyo Sports, Nakamura discussed the match and noted that it felt like a dream. He made it clear that he was glad he could showcase himself to the world.
“I guess the best way to describe it is that it was really my first dream,” Nakamura said. “When I woke up this morning, I was horrified and thought, maybe it really was a dream… I haven’t had a match yet, have I? I was horrified. I was really able to expose myself to the world, from the moment I entered the ring to the moment I left.”
The WWE star also stated that WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H sent him an encouraging message and congratulated him.
As for his path forward coming out of the match, Nakamura stated that Great Muta has entered his blood, and he wants to “incorporate” the legend into his style.
“For sure, Keiji Muto and The Great Muta have entered my blood as a wrestler,” Nakamura said. “I would like to incorporate what I feel in my body into my own style.”
