A big title match is set for WWE SmackDown in two weeks.
During the December 30 episode of SmackDown, Imperium appeared in the ring to tout GUNTHER’s accomplishments throughout 2022 as Intercontinental Champion. After a highlight reel showcasing his victories, Braun Strowman made his way out to confront The Ring General.
Strowman pointed out that GUNTHER hasn’t beaten him, which led to Imperium turning their backs to leave. Strowman did not tolerate the disrespect and proceeded to attack all three until GUNTHER sidestepped him outside the ring, causing Strowman to run into the barricade. In the end, Ricochet made the save to send Imperium retreating.

Following the confrontation, WWE announced that GUNTHER will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Strowman on the January 13 episode of SmackDown, just two weeks before the Royal Rumble.
