You might not have noticed it, but this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite underwent some creative changes due to travel woes across the United States.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), several big names that were scheduled for New Year’s Smash in Denver this week were unable to make the show due to the inclement weather.
Among the names that also couldn’t make it include Eddie Kingston, Dr. Britt Baker DMD, and Saraya.
Kingston’s absence would explain why we didn’t see The House of Black on Dynamite this week. At the same time, the lack of both Saraya and Britt Baker would explain why there wasn’t any additional build for their upcoming tag team match on January 11 in Los Angeles.
Fightful stated that Tony Khan “had to scramble to adjust several things on the shows.”
Regardless of the changes, AEW officials reportedly still felt good about how the shows went down this week.
