Battleground Championship Wrestling Promoter Comments On D-Von Dudley’s Absence From 12/17 Show

Battleground Championship Wrestling promoter Tim Embler has backed down on his previous claim that WWE pulled D-Von Dudley from the promotion’s Tribute to the Extreme event.

Dudley had been advertised to appear at the ECW tribute show at the 2300 Arena on December 17. He was set to accompany his former Dudley Boyz partner Bully Ray to the ring for his match against Matt Cardona, but Ray wound up going to the ring by himself. PWInsider subsequently reported that WWE pulled D-Von from the show, and BCW claimed that they got a legal letter from WWE. Embler commented on the matter at the event.

In a post on Facebook, Embler issued a follow-up statement and explained that WWE did not intentionally prevent D-Von from appearing at the show.

Hey guys. I have a follow up statement to the situation with the WWE that I addressed in the ring this past Saturday. After having several conversations today I now know that everything that went down with D-Von was a misunderstanding. The wwe did not intentionally pull Dvon to hurt our show. I won’t get into those details but if I had the information then that I have now I wouldn’t have made the comments I made. It felt as if we were under attack and I reacted in the defense of our company. I can’t thank everyone enough for the support you showed and the future for The Battleground is limitless! Have an amazing rest of the holiday season and just remember… this March… A Champion Shall Rise!

D-Von, a WWE Hall of Famer, continues to work for the company as a coach and producer.
