Olympic athlete Gable Steveson hasn’t been seen much in WWE, but he did make an appearance during the December 9 episode of WWE SmackDown.
In a backstage segment, WWE legend and Olympian Kurt Angle could be seen walking around with Steveson, with the former celebrating his birthday. The duo then bumped into none other than Braun Strowman, who greeted the newcomer and told Steveson that whenever he’s ready to step into the ring, he could get those hands.
Steveson wasted no time in firing back, telling Strowman that when he makes his debut, Strowman will be the first person he seeks out. The powerhouse responded by laughing and praising his confidence.

Later in the show, when Alpha Academy (Otis & Gable) threatened Angle, Steveson made the save once Otis started eating the WWE Hall of Famer’s birthday cake. Steveson rode on a milk truck to the ring and stood by by Angle hosed Otis and Gable down with milk.

Details about Steveson’s current standing in WWE are unclear. Earlier this year, reports suggested that the Olympic gold medalist’s training wasn’t particularly well, and that his status was cold. However, in October, Steveson revealed that he had a procedure this year to help treat a rare heart condition known as Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) Syndrome. Once he recovered, Steveson resumed training, which he hadn’t been able to do before he got the condition treated.
