Matt Hardy Offers Update On Jeff Hardy, Teases The Return Of ‘Broken Matt’

Matt Hardy provides a status update on his brother Jeff Hardy.

During a recent episode of The Extreme Life with Matt Hardy podcast, co-host Jon Alba asked Hardy if he could provide on update on Jeff, who has been out of action since June. Jeff was arrested for a DUI in Florida—his third in 10 years—and is awaiting his pre-trial hearing. Meanwhile, he has been in treatment for substance abuse, as AEW mandated when the company suspended him. According to Matt, Jeff is doing well, and they’re focused on getting his legal issues behind him.

“He’s basically doing the same thing he’s been doing. He’s doing exactly what he needs to be doing to get to where he needs to be in life,” Hardy said. “More or less, we’ve just got to get these legal issues behind him before we move forward. So that’s kind of where we’re at with Jeff, and we’re hoping that happens sooner rather than later.” When asked if he knows whether Jeff is in a good headspace, Matt responded, “Yeah, he seems to be in a really good place, which is very nice and refreshing to see. So, hopefully that continues, and we’ll get him back to where he belongs.”

Later in the podcast, Hardy addressed his current storyline with Ethan Page and Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen). When asked about the digital exclusive segment following the December 7 episode of AEW Dynamite, in which Hardy started snarling at Page, the veteran teased that his “Broken” persona may appear on AEW programming soon if he and “All Ego” keep going down this path.

“Well, I can say I’m not a big fan of Ethan Page. I think he’s an asshole. Very creative guy, but I do think he is an asshole,” Hardy said. “So yeah, there was a point in there where I snapped a little. It could’ve been a flash of Damascus popping out of my mortal vessel, I don’t know. If we continue along the same path, and he keeps punishing and doing things to Private Party that negatively affects their careers, I might end up ‘Broken’ before it’s all said and done.”
