Brody King Didn’t Want To Take Time Off From AEW TV, But House Of Black Hasn’t Missed A Step

Brody King disappeared from All Elite Wrestling programming following his match at AEW Rampage: Grand Slam, but it wasn’t something he wanted to do.

All Elite Wrestling’s Brody King was a recent guest on The Sessions with Renee Paquette to discuss a wide variety of subjects. Following AEW All Out, The House of Black went through some changes as Malakai Black took time away from the company for personal reasons.

A few weeks later, at AEW Grand Slam, Buddy Matthews followed suit. Thus leaving Brody King no other choice but to take time off until the other members of the group were ready to return. A period of time off that King didn’t want to take as he believed he was settling into a groove in the company.

“I didn’t want to do it,” Brody King admitted. “I didn’t want to take a break because I felt like I had a lot of momentum at the time but not just that I felt like I was really getting in my groove in AEW and like really showing like who Brody King, the professional wrestler was. I got to wrestle Darby [Allin] twice; I got to wrestle Jon [Moxley].

“And I feel like those three matches really put me on the map where people were just like, ‘Oh, he’s just Malakai’s sidekick’ to like, ‘oh shit, he’s a threat.’ And those were the moments that I was waiting for. It was never me questioning if I could do it. It’s when I can do it. And I feel that it all came at the right time, and I was worried about it taking the momentum away.

“But we made this return, and it was awesome, and the whole crowd was standing on their feet, and I feel almost like we didn’t miss a step, and I feel like that’s really rare in wrestling because fans are so, I don’t want to say fickle, but they forget about you quickly. For them to gonna give us that reception was awesome.”
