Former NFL Player Scooby Wright Attends WWE Tryout

WWE recently held tryouts in Bradenton, Florida this week, and according to a report from TMZ, former NFL player Scooby Wright was among those in attendance.

The tryouts, which were held on November 30 and December 1 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, saw a new batch of hopefuls looking to try and enter the world of professional wrestling. Wright, who most recently played during the 2022 USFL season, was in attendance, although it’s unknown how he performed or whether or not he will be offered a contract in the future.

After three years at the University of Arizona in 2013-15 (although only having played two seasons after getting hurt in 2015), Philip Anthony “Scooby” Wright entered the 2016 NFL Draft, where he was chosen by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh round. Wright was on the Browns practice squad until being signed off of it by the Arizona Cardinals in December 2016. In total, Wright played 13 games across two seasons in the NFL before being waived by the Cardinals in 2018.

Afterward, he would go on to play in the 2020 XFL season prior to its shutdown, and then played for the Birmingham Stallions in the USFL, for which he played a key role in helping win the 2022 USFL Championship.
