Brian Kendrick doesn’t want to be in AJ Styles’ shoes because he believes he’s on the path he’s supposed to be on.
Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Brian Kendrick was recently a guest on Icons of Sports Entertainment to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked what advice he would give his younger self, Kendrick said he wouldn’t want to change his life but is hopeful that he can help young people learn from his mistakes.
“I wouldn’t give the advice to me because I don’t want to change my life. I’d be happy to help kids learn from my mistakes,” Brian Kendrick said. “I don’t wish I was in AJ Styles’ shoes because this is the path that I’m supposed to be on, but what AJ has done right, what all these guys have done right, where I have failed, what I would tell them is, you can’t allow yourself any excuses. You have to put in the work. What I would tell young me is that *audio issues*, for me, my attitude, hubris, all of that have led to downfalls over and over again. I’ve had to pick myself up and start over several times in pro wrestling. Sometimes, it’s because of *audio issues* a lack of humility.” [H/T: Fightful]
Earlier this year, Kendrick was scheduled to wrestle for All Elite Wrestling against Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite before some of his past comments came to light on social media. Kendrick was pulled from the show hours later, and the match never took place.
According to Fightful(via Fightful Select), Kendrick worked as a backstage producer this weekend at WWE Survivor Series and helped produce the match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship alongside Jason Jordan.
