History was made over the weekend at NJPW x STARDOM Historic X-Over when KAIRI won the first ever IWGP Women’s Championship Match over Mayu Iwatani to become the inaugural champion.
KAIRI landed her signature insane elbow to win the match. She vowed to defend her title at Wrestle Kingdom 17 and was confronted by Tam Nakano who said she would wrestler for the championship. The two recently teamed together at Stardom Flashing Champions.
Previously, it was announced that the IWGP women’s title would be defended in both Japan and the United States.
