Seth Rollins On The Shield’s Legacy: 10 Years Later, This Has Been Our Era

Seth Rollins reflects on the legacy of The Shield and discusses where the members stand now, a decade later.

Rollins, Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley), and Roman Reigns made their debut at WWE Survivor Series 2012, and they quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Over the years, all three men grew into prominent stars, and they became world champions at different stages after the group first broke up in 2014.

Speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Rollins reflected on the group’s legacy. He stated that their goal was to take over the industry, and a decade later, it’s fair to say they have.

“We had a very distinct goal and that was to take over the industry, piece by piece,” Rollins said. “I think if you look where everybody stands now, 10 years later, you can certainly say that this has been our era.”

A lot has changed since Moxley left WWE in 2019; he has become the face of AEW, while Rollins and Reigns have reached new heights in WWE. Though they have been separated by their careers, Rollins stated that they will always have a special bond, much like the Four Horsemen and the nWo.

“Everyone’s off doing their own thing, we’re all on separate shows. Roman and I see each other occasionally at the pay-per-views if he’s on those, and neither of us see Mox ever. He’s busy doing his own thing, whether it’s AEW or GCW or New Japan – wherever he wants to show up.

“Obviously the bond isn’t as close but it will always exist in the same way that the Horsemen are always gonna be the Horsemen, the nWo are always gonna be the nWo, The Shield has that type of aura about it. There’s always gonna be a connection there, no matter what happens or which directions we go.”
