Britt Baker: I Worked My Ass Off To Get To Where I Am, I Wasn’t Handed Anything

Britt Baker is one of AEW‘s top stars, and she responds to those who argue that she was handed her opportunities.

Saraya made that claim in a heated promo exchange between the two stars on the November 9 episode of AEW Dynamite. She also stated that Baker doesn’t know what it takes to be a star, let alone a superstar.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Baker emphasized that she has worked hard to get to where she is. She made it clear that she wants people to think of her when they think of AEW, and she’s determined to keep reaching new heights. The former champion noted that nothing has been handed to her, as she has worked hard to get to where she is.

“I’ve worked really, really hard to get where I am,” Baker said. “I have a sink or swim mentality, and I’m always going to swim. I’ve worked so hard for AEW. I want people to think of me when they think of the company, and I want to keep reaching new heights.

“I lost all the time in my first year. When I was first a contender for the title, I needed to improve my record on Dark. It’s incredibly frustrating when people think I was handed this. I worked my ass off for this. Nothing was handed to me. I was the first female signed in AEW, and I’ve been under a microscope ever since. I’ve been open to the criticism that came from that, and I’ve become a better wrestler and a better promo to get where I am today—and I’m still working to be better.”

Baker will face Saraya in a buzzworthy match at AEW Full Gear on November 19.
