Cain Velasquez Granted $1 Million Bail, Terms Of Release Revealed

Cain Velasquez has been granted bail after he was charged with attempted murder and other offenses earlier this year.

On February 28, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion and WWE star allegedly shot into a vehicle that contained Harry Goularte, who had been charged with molesting one of Velasquez’s relatives. Golarte’s stepfather, Paul Bender was struck during the alleged shooting. Velasquez pleaded not guilty to the charges on August 5.

On the morning of November 8, Velasquez was granted bail following a pre-trial hearing that took 13 hours across two days. The terms of his release include $1 million bail, GPS monitoring, and his compliance to not using weapons. Velasquez will also be required to attend CTE/TBI outpatient treatment and counseling, and he will have to follow a protective order to stay at least 300 years away from the alleged victims.

Per MMA Junkie, Judge Arthur Bocanegra said the following:

“This incident is extremely serious but appears to be isolated behavior by Mr. Velasquez. There is also a viable heat of passion defense. Mr. Velasquez, I would not release you if I was not convinced that upon a release at this time, eight months later, that you would be a danger to Harry Goularte primarily, Patricia Goularte or Paul Bender.

“If you are as devoted a husband and father, I’m confident and have to believe you will not jeopardize anything that would take you away from your son, your daughter, your family. I hope you don’t prove me wrong.”

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
