Zelina Vega has some big goals to accomplish in her current WWE run as she hopes to become SmackDown Women’s Champion for the first time.
SmackDown Superstar Zelina Vega was a guest on Busted Open Radio with Dave LaGreca, Mickie James, and Tommy Dreamer to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about being given the opportunity to shine on SmackDown, Vega asked WWE to hand her the ball to show the world what she can do.
“I’ve heard that from so many different people. It’s just a matter of time,” Zelina Vega said. “It’s just a matter of time. When is Zelina getting this chance? And I’m waiting. I’m here because, for the longest, I felt like they were afraid to do it. I’m like, my God, the only thing you’re going to regret is that you didn’t take this chance on me sooner because they have no idea. Yes, this is one side of me, and you’re getting a different side now.
“But imagine what could happen if you actually give me the ball to be me and to have that opportunity. I feel like, for the longest, they’re afraid to do it, and what’s stopping you? Clearly, what I can do for me alone, I can do for other people. But why not give me the actual chance? Are they afraid to do it? Who knows. What could you really lose when it comes to me? I’ve handled literally everything that’s been handed to me. So I think it’s just a matter of time.”
Zelina Vega has accomplished many things thus far in her WWE career, but one thing she hasn’t been able to do yet is win the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
“I want to be champion,” Zelina Vega said. “I’ve done so many things. I mean, to be honest, there’s not a lot of history-making moments left, and to say that I’m the first-ever official queen of WWE, I want to take it a step further. And not only was I queen, but I was also a tag team champion while being queen. So that’s two things right there. Now it’s time for me to go and be SmackDown Women’s Champion because I feel like I wouldn’t be fulfilled until I actually got the opportunity to do that.”
When asked her thoughts about current SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, Vega believes she might have brawn but questions if she has brains.
“It’s no shock to anybody that she’s a scary woman,” Zelina Vega began. “But there’s brawn, and then there’s brains. I don’t know that she has the second one. So I love her, but she has something that I and every other woman on the roster wants, and she knows that she knows that she’s a target. And I’m sure she’s more than fine with that.
“However, I’ve had to make sure all my life that I’ve had things to counteract the fact that I’m not the strongest; I’m not the biggest. But there are things about me that — and again, there’s sides to me that people don’t know. People saw the queen, and they thought oh, she’s got this accent. She’s so funny. It’s so this, but what happens when she turns into the mega bitch that she was all her life coming out from Queens? What happens when she targets that person and brings that person out? I think that’s the side of me that you guys are gonna see.”
