Sami Zayn looks back on Kevin Owens‘s comment about his “Honoarary Uce” shirt and responds to it.
On the September 30 episode of WWE SmackDown, Owens bumped into Zayn backstage. When he saw his friend’s shirt, which was given to him after Roman Reigns acknowledged his status in The Bloodline, the former WWE Universal Champion told Zayn that he needs to get a new one.
During the October 19 episode of WWE’s The Bump, Zayn recalled Owens’ remark and questioned it, noting that he had just gotten the “Honorary Uce” shirt, so he didn’t need a new one. He stated Owens has been doubting his pairing with The Bloodline for months, much like everyone else. He then wondered why people can’t accept an “honest and functional relationship” and suggested dysfunction has come to be the expectation in WWE.
“Well, I was a little confused because I had just gotten the shirt, so it was actually brand new. I mean, I didn’t really understand what he was getting at. I just got the shirt. This is the new shirt. Why would I need another shirt? I just got it. But I get what he was kind of implying. He’s saying I shouldn’t be hanging around with these guys. You know what, he’s been saying that for months.
“The few months that we’ve crossed paths on Raw or SmackDown or whatever it is, he’s actually like these fans and these critics that I’m talking about, that just thinks that I’m kissing up, that they’re using me, that whatever it is. I don’t know why some people have such a hard time grasping an honest and functional relationship between people. Maybe it’s because this is WWE and we’re just used to the disfunction. I don’t know. But you know what, people can get along. Look at me and Solo as an example. We get along great.”
