Candice LeRae Describes Her Wrestling Character: I’m Basically Macho Man With Fairy Wings

Candice LeRae has brought her childhood aspirations to life in WWE.

LeRae recently shocked wrestling fans when she returned to the company a few weeks ago. Since then, she’s reprised her gimmick as “The Poison Pixie.” Often attaching detailed fairy wings to her ring jacket, LeRae always had a fascination with Disney fairytales. In turn, she’s intertwined it into her current on-screen persona.

“The fairy wings and all of that is very much so the Disney part of me,” LeRae said during an appearance on Out of Character with Ryan Satin. “It’s all the happy, Disney fairytale, sunshine, childhood version of myself.”

A self-described “introvert in real life”, LeRae always dreamed of becoming a professional wrestler when she grew up. However, LeRae opened up about her hesitancy of disclosing that with her peers. “I was the unpopular one. I’m not going to tell all these other kids what I want to be when I grow up because I’m gonna get picked on for it.” Despite that apprehension, a young Candice LeRae decided that she wanted to be like a WWE Hall of Famer.

“I want to be Macho Man [Randy Savage] when I grow up,” LeRae recalled. “Now I’m basically Macho Man with fairy wings,” she said. “That’s like the coolest thing ever.”

LeRae recently revealed her goal to wrestle a pair of two other WWE Hall of Famers: Edge and Phoenix. In addition, “The Poison Pixie” called out Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch as potential WrestleMania opponents for herself and real-life husband, Johnny Gargano.
