Report: Ace Steel Released From AEW

All Elite Wrestling has reportedly released one of the players in the backstage altercation that took place last month at All Out.

Following the blatant comments made by CM Punk at the post-show media scrum on September 5th, AEW EVPs Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks were “extremely pissed off.” This led to a confrontation between the EVPs and then AEW World Champion Punk. Ace Steel would join in the defense of Punk, reportedly biting Kenny Omega. The company had since suspended all parties involved, including the additions of Pat Buck, Christopher Daniels, Michael Nakazawa, and Brandon Cutler. Now, AEW has released one of them, according to Dave Meltzer.

On the newest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer reported that Ace Steel had been release from All Elite Wrestling. Steel was “officially released yesterday (Tuesday),” Meltzer confirmed. “So I guess that is the first bit of news out of that whole situation in weeks. There’s a lot of other stuff going on.”

PWInsider.com is also reporting they independently confirmed Steel’s release, noting that it took place on Tuesday afternoon.

Ace Steel previously served as a producer for the company. Just before All Out, he appeared on-screen. There, he convinced CM Punk to accept the open challenge laid down by the Undisputed AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley. Punk would go on to reclaim the championship at All Out before the aforementioned altercation transpired.

This marks the first major bit of news in weeks regarding the incident as President Tony Khan recently revealed he was unable to further comment on the situation. An investigation remains ongoing, but it appears some action has finally been taken.

Neither AEW nor Tony Khan have confirmed Meltzer’s report of Ace Steel’s firing at this time. WrestleZone will provide more information on the update as it becomes available.
