Candice LeRae kept her return to WWE a secret for a number of weeks.
LeRae left the company when her contract expired in May. She subsequently returned on the September 26 episode of WWE RAW, and she has quickly established herself as a prominent star on the red brand.
Speaking with MuscleManMalcolm, LeRae revealed that she knew she’d be coming back shortly before her husband, Johnny Gargano, returned and appeared on WWE RAW in August. She noted that it was hard to keep the secret, but she’s glad they pulled it off. LeRae also joked that even Triple H was surprised she was ready to come back so soon after the birth of her son, Quill, in February.
“So Johnny and I both knew for sure about I wanna say a week before he debuted. So I knew for a while. Keeping a secret was very, very difficult [laughs]. But we really, in this day and age, there’s so much social media and so many things leaking, trying to keep that a secret was really difficult. I think him being a secret was a little harder. Me being a secret was kind of, it was easy but hard. I was going with him to train, I was his training buddy. But we were just like oh, yeah, I’m just training with him.
“Then I think people just weren’t expecting me to be ready to come back so soon. Not even Triple H was ready [laughs]. We said, ‘Hey, what do you think?’ He goes, ‘Oh, okay, well, yeah.’ Everybody seemed surprised, so I’m glad that, in this day and age, we were able to both be genuine surprises. It’s awesome.”
