Taya Valkyrie emphasizes the importance of holding the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship and previews her match against Kamille.
Valkyrie will put the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship on the line against NWA World Women’s Champions Kamille at AAA Triplemania XXX: Mexico City on October 15. Valkyrie was scheduled to face Thunder Rosa at the event,
In an interview with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Valkyrie discussed her current title reign and emphasized that holding the gold means a lot to her, so she intends to defend the title with everything she has.
“It feels phenomenal to come back and win it from Deonna Purrazzo at IMPACT Wrestling,” Valkyrie said. “Being able to come back to AAA as their Reina de Reyes champion, I’m now tied for the most reigns in history at four. I’m also the longest-reigning. I’m also the first foreign-born woman to win that championship.
“I had a lot of naysayers when I first went there, but I just knew what I had to do. This championship means more to me than people can really understand. It carries a long history with me and has seen me through a lot of stages of my career. I’m going to defend it with everything I’ve got.”
Valkyrie also previewed her match against Kamille, noting that she’ll have the home-field advantage. She expressed her confidence that her experience and her familiarty with the environment will give her an advantage on Saturday night.
“Yeah, if I were her I would be worried,” Valkyrie said. “This is the wild west. This is Mexican lucha libre. These fans are unpredictable. The show is unpredictable. Everything about it. There are no rules. I came up in this environment. I traveled there and left my country. I left everything behind in Canada to follow this crazy dream. I lived it, breathed it, and engulfed myself in the culture. I learned the language. I don’t care how much experience you have. Nothing prepares you for that. I think that my experience and understanding of this environment give me the upper hand.
