Liv Morgan: I’m Okay With Getting A Polarizing Response, The Goal Is To Get A Reaction

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan doesn’t mind getting a mixed response from the crowd, especially considering that John Cena himself dealt with “Let’s go Cena, Cena sucks” chants.

Morgan has been getting a somewhat polarizing response since she defeated Ronda Rousey in a controversial manner at WWE SummerSlam; she pinned Rousey while the challenger had her in an arm-bar, and while Morgan tapped out, the referee counted the pin instead. Some fans subsequently booed Morgan due to the inconclusive nature of the result.

Speaking with Metro, Morgan shared her thoughts on this dynamic and stated that she doesn’t take it personally. Instead, she noted that, in wrestling, the objective is to get a response from the crowd, whether it’s the intended one or not.

“It’s ok! I understand the reaction in a weird way, so I didn’t take it personally, necessarily,” Morgan said. “The funny thing is, in wrestling, in WWE, all you want is a reaction. So, even though it maybe wasn’t the desired reaction, it’s still polarizing. As long as we’re getting a reaction, I’m ok! And I’m still champion, so I’m more than OK!”

Cena’s status as a polarizing star also came up in the conversation, as Morgan expressed that she’d be okay with being treated the same way, given Cena’s legendary career.

“He’s the best of the best, who’s considered the ultimate babyface, went through years and years and years of “Let’s go Cena, Cena sucks,'” Morgan said. “So, if that’s how I’m treated, I will be ok with that!”
