Former United States Champion Robert Roode disappeared from WWE programming several months ago, and we now seemingly have an update as to why.
RAW Superstar Robert Roode recently took to Instagram to reveal that he recently visited Southlake Orthopaedics and Andrews Sports Medicine in Birmingham, seemingly explaining his absence from WWE programming over the last several months.
“Heading home after what is hoped to be a successful trip to Birmingham AL . Big thank you to @southlakeortho and @andrews_sports_medicine for taking great care of me this week Especially to the first class medical staff of Dr Micheal Ellerbusch , Dr Andrew Cordover and Dr Charles Carnel,” Robert Roode posted on Instagram.
Robert Roode hasn’t wrestled since a June 25 live event against Omos. His last televised match came as an entrant in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the April 1 episode of SmackDown.
On behalf of everyone here at WrestleZone, we wish Roode a speedy recovery from his injury and hope to see him back in a WWE ring soon.
Roode has teamed with Dolph Ziggler for the past several years, working together as the Dirty Dogs. Roode previously spoke about the meaning behind their team name, noting that it came from taking a veteran’s mentality:
“Dolph and I have been around for a minute in this business. You know what I mean? Broke in, in ’98. Dolph, I think he broke in like ’57. He’s been around forever. No, but seriously. I mean, we’re two veteran guys. Even though we weren’t in the same company together, we’ve kind of seen it all. Been there, done that. Been in the ring with the best of the best. And we know that being the old dogs in the locker room, so to speak, sometimes you got to play a little dirty. You gotta play dirty sometimes you get the job done and get what you want in this business. And that’s the kind of moniker that we want to go by. Two veteran guys that, that are here to make a paycheck and be champions. And make a name for ourselves as a tag team.”
