Liv Morgan: As Much As I Love Tag Team Wrestling, I Always Envisioned Myself As A Singles Star

Liv Morgan was just meant to be a singles wrestler.

During a recent interview with Rebellious Noise, WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan spoke about her first title win and how it wasn’t a tag team championship. Morgan said that she wishes things were different back then, but everything happens for a reason.

“I guess just going back to the beginning of my career, I always saw myself as a singles competitor. As much as I love tag teams, as much as I fell in love with Ruby [Riott] and Sarah [Logan] and as much as I love teaming with Rhea [Ripley], as much fun as I had with Lex [Alexa Bliss],” Morgan explained, “I always envisioned that this would be my first championship. I feel like it all played out exactly like it should.

“Winning the tag titles with Ru would’ve been absolutely everything, but the universe had different plans,” Morgan added. “I’m not mad at this in the very least.”

Liv Morgan also spoke about getting near-universal praise from everyone for her title win, noting that it was the cherry on top of a major accomplishment.

“It almost makes me emotional, a little bit. This is like a prize that we all fight for,” Morgan explained, “so the fact that my peers, the other women can take themselves out of that and be happy for me and proud of me made everything so much sweeter.”

Liv Morgan will defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey at Extreme Rules on October 8.
